Lycar Education

Specialist Alternative Provision for Early Years and Key Stage 1 Pupils

Lycar Education provides specialist Alternative Provision for young children who are currently unable to access mainstream school due to complex developmental, learning, communication or medical needs.

Working closely with Bury Local Authority and Special Schools, Lycar Education supports children who are awaiting specialist school placements and require a carefully designed environment to develop the foundations for learning.

Our provision is designed primarily for Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils, many of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and require highly personalised support.

Parents/Guardians

As a parent or carer, it's often challenging to identify the right support system to turn to when a child is going through a difficult period. Lycar Education can help you and your child or young person.

School/Academy

Lycar Education offer an interim engagement and educational service aimed at assisting students facing difficulties or currently not engaged in education, regardless of the reason.

Local Authority

Our primary goal is to reintegrate children and young people into a formal educational environment as soon as possible, ensuring their continued success there. Our service helps you achieve your goals.

Therapeutic Movement Provision

Our provision is delivered from a fully equipped movement-based learning environment, designed to support children who learn best through physical and sensory experiences.

Research shows that movement and sensory regulation are fundamental to early development, particularly for children with SEND.

Children participate in structured therapeutic movement activities including:

• Trampoline and rebound therapy activities
• Climbing and gross motor development
• Sensory movement circuits
• Balance, coordination and core strength activities
• Regulation activities to support focus and emotional wellbeing

These activities are carefully structured and supported by trained staff to help children develop regulation, engagement and readiness to learn.

Individualised Support

Every child receives:

• A personalised Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
• Small group or 1:1 support where required
• Regular progress monitoring
• Close collaboration with schools, families and professionals

Our aim is to create a safe, engaging and nurturing environment where children can develop at their own pace.

A Bridge to Specialist Education

Lycar Education acts as a bridge between home and specialist schooling, helping children build the foundations they need before transitioning to their long-term school placement.

We work collaboratively with:

• Local Authorities
• Special schools
• Families
• Health professionals

to ensure each child receives the right support at the right time.

Learn With Us

Our Services

1 to 1 Tuition

We provide one-on-one, in-person tutoring for children at risk of school exclusion or for young people who have been permanently excluded.

Live Online Learning

Our tutors have the capability to conduct real-time, face-to-face lessons via video conferencing, catering to either one-on-one sessions or groups of children of the same age, even if they are in different locations.

Small & Large Classes

We organise both small and large online classes with live instruction from a single teacher. These sessions cover all Key Stages 1-5, functional skills, GCSEs, as well as social and life skills.

Special Educational Needs

Special Educational Needs (SEN) encompasses children with Autism, ADHD, disabilities, medical conditions, those who are vulnerable, and those who are disadvantaged. We offer both face-to-face and online tutorials tailored to their needs.

Alternative Approach

We acknowledge that every young learner is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Each individual we work with often needs patience, sensitivity, and care to discover how to overcome the learning barriers they face.

Online Video Lessons

Prior to the global pandemic, online video lessons presented a feasible but relatively unfamiliar option for teaching and learning, catering to students of all ages and abilities.

Bespoke Programmes

While it may appear evident, it's essential to recognise that each learner is unique. Every individual we assist possesses distinct needs, concerns, and challenges, regardless of their current level of proficiency.

Key Stage 1 and 2

Primary school education marks the starting point for everything. Here, children embark on learning to read, write, and socialise with their peers—both those they enjoy and those they may not get along with.

Key Stage 3, 4 & 5.

Between the ages of 11 and 18, adolescents undergo a transformation from the children who enter secondary school to the young adults who graduate at 18.

Catch Up Tuition

The worldwide pandemic has resulted in educational gaps in learning and achievement for numerous children and young individuals.

GCSE Revision

Throughout the GCSE period, we offer learners additional tutoring and assistance in all subjects.

11+ Tuition

Empowering 11+ students to secure admission into grammar school.
